The Sten was a British Personal Defense Weapon. It was featured in the Phantom Forces Alpha. The Sten has been permanently removed from the game.

History

The Sten is a submachine gun that was chambered in the 9x19mm Parabellum round. It was produced by the Royal Small Arms Factory and was added into service in the British Army for close range engagements. Although eventually replaced by its brother, the Sterling submachine gun, it still played a vital role in conflicts that happened from 1950 to the 1970s. Many resistance members during World War II also used this for means of fighting against the Axis powers.

In-Game

The Sten was a submachine gun that was capable at all ranges, though weak in close quarters. Although like most submachine guns, it was in the Personal Defense Weapon category in-game before it was removed before Beta was released. This gun was released and taken out of the game in Alpha.

It had a fixed rear EOTech XPS2 sight which allowed the player to shoot with a modern sight instead of Iron Sights. Although it has a magazine on the side, in Phantom Forces it is held vertically, with the trigger being on the side which is a unique way of holding the gun.

Trivia

  • The Sten in-game is held sideways with the magazine protruding down instead of the left.
  • The Sten (alongside the C7A2) were the only guns in the PF Alpha with optics other than Iron Sights that were also removed for the PF beta.
  • The attachments were duct-taped onto the weapon with yellow Spongebob duct tape.
  • This specific Sten gun is a direct reference to a Dugan video, given its almost identical features to the one shown. (NOTE: This video is not suitable for all audiences. Continue at your own risk.)
    • Sub-note: This video is a re-upload. The original video was uploaded well before PF even existed.
  • The Germans even made a Sten clone called the MP3008. The only major difference was that the magazine well was straight, similar to the MP40. It also featured a wire stock, like the one on a Sten Mk1.
    • Ironically, the Sten was based on German designs initially - more specifically, the MP38.
