Flash and Sound Suppression are accomplished by muzzle devices that conceal the player from the enemy radar or hide muzzle flash, both from enemies and the player himself. Without a suppressor, gunshots will be detected on the radar at a range of up to 100 studs.

There are a variety of muzzle devices in the game that suppress sound as well as a singular flash hider.

The Suppressor, also known as the 'Standard Suppressor' is the first barrel attachment to be unlocked in the game.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash
  • Least impact on muzzle velocity out of all suppressors
  • No minimum damage reduction

Cons:

  • Reduces maximum damage by 10%
  • Reduces maximum damage range by 10%

Tactics & Usage

The Suppressor is very effective for close range weapons as the enemy needs to stay at 15 studs or closer to the player to detect the gunshot on his radar, which is pretty much the point blank range. At close range (under 75 studs), the muzzle velocity penalty is not a matter at all. After the suppressor buff update, this suppressor no longer reduced the maximum damage of weapons, this means the close range 3-shots-kill weapons like the UMP45, MP5/10, SR-3M and AUG A3 Para won't lose their effectiveness at close range.

Due to the highest bullet velocity penalty of all suppressors, this suppressor is less effective at medium range and not ideal for long range engagement. On some weapons, the Standard Suppressor will increase the hit-to-kill then the time-to-kill due to the minimum range reduction.

The Suppressor improves the recoil pattern on almost any weapon. It reduces both vertical and horizontal recoils, like a combination of the Muzzle Brake and the Compensator but its recoil effect is not as great as the Muzzle Brake and Compensator.

The R2 Suppressor is the second suppressor to be unlocked.

  • Reduces minimum damage range by 5%

Tactics and Usage

The R2 suppressor reduces the sound detection to 35 studs, which is quite advantageous for the user. As the description says, this suppressor is suitable for the close-medium range (at 100 to 200 studs) weapons such as assault rifles and carbines. At this range, the 20% muzzle velocity decrease is not a big deal as the bullets still be enough accurate enough at this range. This suppressor also behaves like a muzzle brake.

In comparison to the PBS-4 suppressor, the R2 suppressor has a less bullet velocity and bullet drop decrease and the same damage penalty, but it has a worse masking range and minimum range penalty.

The ARS Suppressor is the third suppressor to be unlocked. It is only available for primary weapons.

  • No maximum damage reduction.

Cons:

  • Minimum damage: -10%
  • Minimum damage range: -10%

Tactics & Usage

Due to the low-velocity penalty and damage drop, the ARS suppressor is suitable for the long range weapons like DMRs and Sniper rifles. The damage penalty is low enough to make no different time term of hit-to-kill nor time-to-kill of these weapons.

Tactics & Usage

Like its counterpart, the R2 suppressor, the PBS-4 is a suppressor for medium range engagement where its penalties are not enough to make a different. This suppressor also behaves like a compensator.

In comparison to the R2 suppressor, the PBS-4 has a better masking range and less range reduction but it makes a slightly worse bullet trajectory.

The PBS-4 Suppressor is the last barrel attachment to be unlocked.

Tactics & Usage

Like its Western counterpart, the PBS-1 is ideal for long range weapon due to having the lowest bullet drop penalty and damage reduction of all the suppressors. On most weapons, it won't decrease the time-to-kill/hit-to-kill. Nevertheless, it's meaningless to use this suppressor for a close range assault because it has a long masking range of 40 studs.

  • Slightly reduced hipfire and aiming stability

Tactics & Usage

This device eliminates the muzzle flash of the weapon, which is useful for concealing the player in dark conditions. The advantage over the suppressor is that this device does not decrease the damage, range and bullet velocity of the weapon. However, the opponent still easily detects the player with the radar.

The Flash hider is useful on some weapon the muzzle flash obscures the vision while aiming, like the M60 and L85 series.

Trivia

  • Suppressors, by themselves, do not actually slow down bullets in real life. Rather, this mechanic is probably to reflect the fact that suppressors are usually used with subsonic ammunition, because supersonic ammunition makes a distinctive crack which would ruin the point of having the firing sound of the weapon decreased.
