Flash and Sound Suppression are accomplished by certain barrel attachments that conceal the player from the enemy radar or hide muzzle flash, both from enemies and the player themself. Without a suppressor, gunshots will be detected on the radar at a range of up to 100 studs.

There are a variety of muzzle devices in the game that suppress sound as well as a singular flash hider.

Suppressor

SUP

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 30
All primary weapons and all secondary weapons except Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, Stevens DB, Sawed Off, and Revolvers.

"Standard heavy suppressor. Muzzle Velocity: 1700 stud/s. Preserves minimum damage with high maximum damage penalty. " - In-game Description

The Suppressor, also known as the 'standard Suppressor', is the first barrel attachment to be unlocked in the game. It is unlocked when the player achieves 30 kills with a gun or can be bought for 230 credits (CR) initially.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 10%.
  • Least impact on muzzle velocity out of all suppressors
  • No minimum damage reduction

Cons:

  • Reduces maximum damage by 10%
  • Reduces maximum damage range by 10%

Tactics & Usage

The Suppressor is effective for weapons that prioritized ranged performance over up-close performance as there is no minimum damage reduction and the bullet velocity is the fastest out of all the suppressors. It is much less effective for CQC oriented weapons as it reduces the maximum damage by a painful 10%, making some weapons like the Colt SMG 635 lose their 3SK capability due to the maximum damage reduction. This also makes many sniper rifles lose their ability to instantly kill to the body within close ranges.

R2 Suppressor

R2 Suppressor

R2

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 40
All primary weapons and all secondary weapons except Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, Stevens DB, Sawed Off, and Revolvers.

"Medium compact Western suppressor. Muzzle velocity: 1500 stud/s. Balanced compromise between damage and range. " - In-game Description

The R2 Suppressor is the second suppressor to be unlocked. It is unlocked when the player achieves 40 kills with a gun or can be bought for 240 credits (CR) initially.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 20%
  • Balanced amount of damage reduction

Cons:

  • Reduces maximum damage by 5%
  • Reduces minimum damage by 5%
  • Reduces maximum damage range by 5%
  • Reduces minimum damage range by 5%

Tactics and Usage

The R2 Suppressor takes a small amount of damage and range, both close and far, for better sound suppression and decent projectile velocity. The R2 provides an all-rounder suppressor that truly epitomizes "a jack of all trades is a master of none." Its penalties for damage and distance are some of the lowest while providing the best sound suppression possible outside of certain .45 weapons.

ARS Suppressor

ARS Suppressor

ARS

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 150
All primary weapons, Obrez, SFG 50, Serbu Shotgun except Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, Stevens DB.

"Light Western suppressor. Muzzle velocity: 1350 stud/s. Preserves damage up close with high minimum damage penalty. " - In-game Description

The ARS Suppressor is the third suppressor to be unlocked. It is unlocked when the player achieves 150 kills with a gun or can be bought for 350 credits (CR) initially.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 10%
  • No maximum damage reduction.

Cons:

  • Minimum damage: -10%
  • Minimum damage range: -10%

Tactics & Usage

The ARS Suppressor used to be the only suppressor one would use, but now it has been relegated to close quarters weaponry. The ARS has the strongest bullet speed reduction in its class but makes up for it by preserving your maximum damage. This makes it an excellent choice for weapons that already have a low damage output at long range, but incredible damage up close, such as the MAC-10.

PBS-4 Suppressor

PBS-4 Suppressor

PBS4sideAngled

PBS4

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 245
All primary weapons, Obrez, SFG 50, Serbu Shotgun except Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, Stevens DB.

"Medium Russian suppressor. Muzzle velocity: 1550 stud/s. Slight compromise on maximum damage to prefer range and velocity. " - In-game Description

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 10%
  • Generally balanced suppressor with a bias towards range.

Cons:

  • Maximum damage: -8%
  • Minimum damage: -2%
  • Maximum damage range: -5%

Tactics & Usage

Like its counterpart, the R2 Suppressor, the PBS-4 is a suppressor for medium range engagement where its penalties are not enough to make a difference.

In comparison to the R2 Suppressor, the PBS-4 has a better masking range and less range reduction but it makes a slightly worse bullet trajectory.

The PBS-4 Suppressor is the last barrel attachment to be unlocked.

PBS-1 Suppressor

PBS-1 Suppressor

PBS1sideAngled

PBS1

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 205
All primary weapons, Obrez, SFG 50, Serbu Shotgun except Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, Stevens DB.

"Light Russian suppressor. Muzzle velocity: 1400 stud/s. Preserves damage up close with faster damage drop off over distance. " - In-game Description

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 10%
  • No maximum damage reduction.

Cons:

  • Minimum Damage: -8%
  • Maximum damage range: -5%
  • Minimum damage range: -15%

Tactics & Usage

The PBS-1 could be considered a slightly less aggressive version of the ARS Suppressor. While the ARS is primarily focused on pure close up damage, the PBS-1 ekes out a little more distance while trading some maximum damage. This is ideal for close range weapons with damage to spare so they keep their ordinary shots-to-kill close range damage rating, but with slightly better at-distance performance.

Osprey Suppressor

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 250
M45A1, Kriss Vector

"Light Western suppressor manufactured by SilencerCo. Muzzle velocity: 1450 studs/s. Preserves damage up close with higher minimum damage penalty. " - In-game Description

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash, reduces weapon noise by 50%
  • No maximum damage reduction.

Cons:

  • Minimum damage: -15%
  • Minimum damage range: -15%

Tactics & Usage

The Osprey can be treated like the ARS Suppressor, just for .45 caliber weaponry only, and with slightly more punishing damage drop-off traded for faster projectile velocity. It is also much quieter than any other suppressor in the game.

Flash Hider

Flash Hider

FlashHiderAngle

FLASH HIDER

Overview
Attachment Type Barrel
Kills Required 100 (x2 for Stevens DB and its Sawed Off)
All primary and secondary weapons excluding Integrally Suppressed Weapons, PPSh-41, ZIP22 and L115A3

"Eliminates visible muzzle flash while firing by cooling or dispersing burning gases that exit the muzzle, resulting in slightly reduced stability. " - In-game Description

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Hides muzzle flash.
  • No damage or range reduction.

Cons:

  • Slightly reduced hipfire and aiming stability

Tactics & Usage

This device eliminates the muzzle flash of the weapon, which is useful for concealing the player in dark conditions. The advantage over the suppressor is that this device does not decrease the damage, range and bullet velocity of the weapon. However, any opponent can still easily detect the player with their radar. The Flash Hider is useful on some weapons where the muzzle flash obscures the vision while aiming, like the M60 and SA80 series.

Trivia

  • Suppressors, by themselves, do not actually slow down bullets in real life - in fact, they tend to increase bullet velocity slightly. Rather, this mechanic is probably to reflect the fact that suppressors are usually used with subsonic ammunition. Standard ammunition makes a distinctive crack due to it going at supersonic velocities, which would ruin the point of having the firing sound of the weapon decreased.
  • Suppressors can increase muzzle velocity if the base velocity of the weapon is less.
    • For example, the Suppressor's muzzle velocity takes priority over the velocities of the different shotgun ammo types, causing birdshot pellets to go from 900/s to 1700/s.
  • The Osprey Suppressor features various manufacturer-styled stampings:
    • A Soviet-styled proof mark.
    • The username of the creator of the model, Kolchev.
